The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has informed Nigerians that the newly minted naira notes are still available.

Despite complaints over the lack of new notes, the top bank claims it is collaborating with stakeholders to find a solution.

Thursday morning, the CBN tweeted, “CBN is committed to ensuring that the new Naira notes reach the hands of Nigerians as quickly as possible.”

“CBN has begun conducting banks’ branch spot-checks on ATMs in coordination with the EFCC and ICPC.”

Since the bank announced the policy and established a deadline for the exchange of the new notes, Nigerians have continued to respond to the measure. The lack of fresh notes is to blame for this.

Alexander Okwori, who has spent the last two minutes waiting at a cash machine, is one such person. Like everyone else, he is attempting to get the new banknotes that were introduced in October to replace the outdated naira, with a deadline of January 31 for the exchange.

However, just a few banks were disbursing the new notes days before the deadline, leaving many Nigerians without bank accounts without access to cash.

The deadline was extended by the government to February 10 as a result of pressure, but on Tuesday many institutions were still unable to distribute the new notes.

“No ATM is dispensing cash.” “I visited ten banks, but there are no new notes,” said Okwori, who is concerned about how he will pay for the day’s worth of food.

He’s so furious now that he doesn’t intend to cast a ballot on February 25.
