In Germany’s Ruhr industrial region, Recklinghausen, a severe freight train disaster has occurred. To look for probable victims, rescue teams used a thermal imaging drone.

Local officials in Recklinghausen, Germany, reported on Thursday night that a 10-year-old kid was killed and a nine-year-old was critically hurt when they were struck by a freight train.

The children were reportedly dragged by the train through the commercial Ruhr region for a distance of several hundred metres (yards).

There was no proof, according to the police, that additional kids had been impacted.

Emergency services were present.
35 firefighters and rescue personnel were on the scene, according to the fire department.

To detect possible victims in the shadows, they used a drone with thermal imaging cameras.

According to a fire brigade official, “We searched the track bed.”

On Thursday night, Herbert Reul, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia’s minister, paid a visit to the incident’s location. The nine-year-old youngster, according to him, is struggling to survive.

“Children and trains, and at such a young age, it’s absolutely tragic what happened here,” Reul said. One can only hope the parents will have the strength to survive this dreadful sorrow.
