The Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other Financial Institutions convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday in response to the continuous decline of the Naira against the Greenback.
During the closed-door session, Senator Aetokunbo Abiru, the Chairman of the Committee and representative of Lagos East, informed journalists about the Committee’s decision.
Senator Abiru expressed deep concern about the state of the economy, particularly the inflation index. He emphasized that the inflation index has been a significant issue and that it is crucial for the Committee to address it. As a result, the Committee has resolved to summon the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, to provide a comprehensive briefing on the state of the economy.
This decision will be communicated to the Governor, followed by further communication with the press.
