The Labour Party candidate asked people to vote no matter what race, religion, or ethnicity they were.

Prior to the February 25 presidential election, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president, continued his campaign Monday by travelling to Jigawa State.

If elected, Obi and his running mate Datti Baba-Ahmed will continue to work toward creating a “new Nigeria,” he pledged at a gathering of supporters in Dutse.

I can guarantee you that we are committed to a new Nigeria. The Nigeria you see now is an unstable, impoverished country with few jobs, no roads, and no public schools. What we want to change is that.

“We have experienced insecurity, hardship, border closures, poverty, and a lack of employment for a number of years. “The Nigeria we are bringing you is a new Nigeria, one in which employment will be available, Nigeria will be united, and there will be security,” said Obi. I will also shift Nigeria’s economy from one of consumption to one of production.

The Labour Party candidate asked voters in Jigawa not to vote based on their tribe, ethnicity, or religion in the upcoming election. He said that no tribe, ethnic group, or religion has a lower cost of living than others.

Also, he told the people to refuse any suggestion that it was their turn to run for office and instead demand that it was time for Nigeria to take back its country.

The candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and that of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, are both up against the former governor of Anambra State (PDP).
