The national leader and the party’s presidential candidate in the general election of 2023, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, has been called for suspension by some party members, but the Ekiti State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has distanced itself from those calls.

This was announced in a news release co-signed on Monday by Fatomilola Oladosun, the party’s governorship candidate for the 2022 election, and the three senate candidates for the 2023 elections, Motunde Fajuyi (Ekiti Central), Ade Ayeni (Ekiti North), and Samuel Olofin (Ekiti South). Prince Ade-Ajayi, the party’s South West zone financial secretary, is also a co-signer.

They added that the national headquarters, led by acting chairman Alhaji Abba Kawu-Ali, had already disbanded the state executives of the party. The stakeholders highlighted that the group of people who made the call lacked the right to do so.

For his selfless devotion and leadership, which contributed to the party’s victories in the general election of 2023, they reaffirmed their allegiance to the presidential candidate.

The stakeholders declared: “We now distance the Ekiti State chapter of NNPP from such unlawful and offensive actions. Such acts ought to be disregarded because the actors are ineligible to represent the interests of the party’s constituents in Ekiti and lack both the authority and the qualifications to do so.

We now boldly state that there is currently no chairman of the NNPP in Ekiti State to demand the resignation and suspension of H.E. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, our beloved success icon and great National Party leader.

No Ekiti NNPP stakeholder or member is a part of such unpopular, unacceptable, and self-serving actions by disgruntled individuals who were either suspended or reprimanded for their shortcomings one way or the other, so we implore everyone to see the illegal call as a ruse to undermine the party’s unity and harmony and return us to the discredited failure of the past.

“Anyone who claims to support such actions on behalf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) chapter in Ekiti State is acting on his own, not on our behalf; such a person or persons is/are not familiar to our party, the NNPP in Ekiti State.

They are adversaries of the future development that the party is working to plan for. Corruptness is fighting back in this case.
