Calabar Journalist’s Residence Burglarized, Family Targeted for Valuables by Thieves
Ike Uchechukwu, the Cross River State correspondent of Vanguard newspaper, had his home invaded by armed robbers, but fortunately, he and his wife were unharmed during the incident.
The break-in occurred early on a Tuesday morning while Ike and his wife were asleep.
Ike recounted how the robbers managed to dismantle his burglary proofs and enter his apartment without waking them up.
He suspected that they had master keys to gain access.

The robbers stole various items including his wife’s golden trinkets, iPhone 12, Samsung phone, HP laptop, money, and media gadgets.
Despite the advanced locks on his car, they were able to open it and steal valuables from there as well.
Ike reported the robbery to the neighbourhood vigilantes and the police, expressing relief that they were not physically harmed.
This incident mirrors a similar one experienced by another Vanguard reporter, Emmanuel Unah, who was also a victim of a home invasion by armed robbers.
Reports of such incidents are becoming more common in the area.
