The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will announce its decision regarding the cancelled AFCON 2025 qualifier between Libya and Nigeria on Wednesday, following disruptions that affected the match.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is anticipated to announce its decision regarding the disrupted 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group D match between Libya and Nigeria, originally scheduled for October 15 at Benina Martyrs Stadium, this Wednesday.
As reported by Libya Al-Ahrar Channel, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to decide on the situation involving players during the first match in Nigeria, which concluded with a 1-0 victory for the Super Eagles, as well as regarding the return fixture that was ultimately canceled.
The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has already provided all the required documents to CAF.
Nigeria’s delegation experienced a diversion in their flight, which was redirected to Al Abraq Airport. This airport is approximately three hours by road from Benghazi, the planned location for the match.
They were held captive for at least 17 hours without food, water, or internet before flying back to their home country.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) filed a complaint with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding their experience. However, the Libyan Federation maintained that the Nigerians failed to cooperate with them during both legs of the encounter.
