Following his team’s victory over the hosts Qatar on Friday, Senegal’s Terangha Lions head coach Aliou Cisse has been honored by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The African champions won their first match of the campaign by defeating Qatar 3-1.
By winning two FIFA World Cup games, Cisse became the first African manager to do it.
The CAF paid tribute to the former Senegal captain on social media.
Aliou Cisse is the only African manager in history to have won two FIFA World Cup games.
The victory increased the West Africans’ likelihood of making it to the Round of 16.
To ensure a spot in the next round, Senegal must now defeat Ecuador in their last group match.
