Soccernet.ng reports that Patrice Motsepe, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has revealed the extraordinary financial success of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
This highly anticipated tournament took place in Cote d’Ivoire earlier this year and captivated fans worldwide with its thrilling display of goals.
The competition featured 24 countries vying for Africa’s top prize, playing a total of 52 matches across six venues in five Ivorian cities.

Ultimately, it was the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire, who emerged victorious as the champions. According to CAF’s reports, the financial gains from this edition of the AFCON reached unprecedented levels, with a remarkable 26% increase in commercial revenue compared to the previous tournament held in Cameroon in 2021.
As a result, the profits soared to an astounding $80 million, a monumental leap from the mere $4 million earned in previous editions.
Patrice Motsepe expressed his delight at this remarkable achievement, highlighting the significant impact it will have on the financial landscape of African football.
In an interview with France 24, he emphasized that a substantial portion of the funds will be allocated to football development across the 54 countries in Africa.
