The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the dates for the upcoming CAF TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) that will be held in Morocco.
These dates were confirmed by the CAF Executive Committee during a recent meeting and subsequently published on their official website.
The AFCON is scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, while the WAFCON, which was originally planned for this year, has been rescheduled to run from July 5 to July 26, 2025.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe explained that the delay in announcing the dates was due to the complexities of the global football calendar. Despite the challenges, he expressed optimism that the tournaments in Morocco would establish new benchmarks for African football.
Motsepe also highlighted CAF’s dedication to safeguarding and advancing the interests of African players worldwide and building beneficial relationships with various football confederations and organizations.
He further emphasized CAF’s commitment to elevating African football to a globally competitive level and believes that the upcoming tournaments will be a significant stride in that direction.
