Mikel John Obi, a former captain of the Super Eagles, has stated he was not given the 2013 CAF African Player of the Year Award.
The former Chelsea midfielder stated that he won more games than Toure in the year under review in an interview with his brand-new podcast, Obi One.

Mikel Obi was essential to the Blues’ UEFA Europa League victory.
Additionally, he played a crucial role in the Nigerian team’s victory at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Mikel Obi, though, was only able to trail Toure in the CAF Player of the Year voting.
“My trophy, the CAF Award, was to be won in 2013. In 2013, I emerged victorious in the Europa League, the Champions League, and the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Yaya alone emerged victorious… Mikel Obi stated, “I went into the ceremony thinking I was going to win because I was told by CAF that I was going to win and he didn’t receive anything.
