The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it has generated over N1.3 trillion in revenue during the first quarter of 2024.

Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller General (C-G) of NCS, revealed this information during a press briefing in Abuja.
He stated that the total revenue collected during this period amounted to N1,347,675,608,972.75, which represents a significant increase of 122.35% compared to the same period last year.
Adeniyi further explained that the month-by-month analysis showed impressive growth in revenue, with January 2024 recording N390,824 billion, an increase of 95.6% compared to January 2023.
In February and March, the service recorded growth rates of 138.68% and 132.76% respectively. Additionally, the NCS made 572 seizures of various items valued at N10.59 billion in Duty Paid Value (DPV) during the quarter, leading to the arrest of 22 suspects.
The service is committed to addressing smuggling and harassment of its personnel through strengthened anti-smuggling strategies, including the use of geospatial technology, satellite imagery, and Artificial Intelligence tools and techniques.
