Bye-election: ICPC takes action against suspected vote buyers in Sokoto, leading to arrests and seizure of N3.1m

Three individuals suspected of being involved in vote buying were apprehended by officials from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Sokoto State.

The ICPC, which had deployed its operatives to monitor the bye-election in various parts of the state, announced the arrests on its Twitter handle, ICPC X.

The suspects, aged 48, 37, and 38, were caught at a polling unit in the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, with a total sum of N3,105,400 found within the voting premises.

The ICPC has taken custody of all the suspects and has initiated investigations. Additionally, the ICPC has stated its intention to collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in prosecuting the cases.
