Governor Francis Nwifuru’s selection for the Senate replacement of Dave Umahi, Anthony Ani, has emerged as the candidate for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the upcoming bye-election for Ebonyi South senatorial zone in February.

Ani secured 281 out of 285 votes during the primary held in Afikpo local government area on January 6. He was the sole candidate for the primaries. The vacancy in the seat arose due to Umahi’s appointment as Minister by President Bola Tinubu.

Umahi expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing developmental projects in Ebonyi State under Governor Nwifuru’s leadership during a Christmas visit, where he also endorsed Ani. He praised Ani’s loyalty, honesty, and commitment to the project of Ebonyi State, and thanked the Governor for zoning the Ebonyi South Ticket to Onicha. Umahi assured his complete support, along with that of his family, for Ani’s candidacy.
