Burnley significantly boosted their chances of staying in the Premier League with a crucial win that pushed Sheffield United closer to relegation.

The match, which was a must-win for both teams, saw Vincent Kompany’s squad emerge victorious with clinical finishing that brought them within three points of safety, while Chris Wilder’s team now finds themselves 10 points away from safety.

Despite being outplayed in the first half, Burnley’s goalkeeper Arijanet Muric made key saves to keep his team in the game until they scored two quick goals within three minutes.

On-loan player Jacob Bruun Larsen opened the scoring with a deflected volley that caught Sheffield United’s goalkeeper off guard and found the net at the near post.

Burnley extended their lead in the next attack when full-back Lorenz Assignon dribbled through the defense and poked the ball past the goalkeeper and off the crossbar.

Muric continued his heroics with a fantastic save to deny James McAtee’s shot, but Sheffield United managed to pull one back through Gustavo Hamer’s well-placed finish.

The visitors, however, sealed the victory with Lyle Foster’s composed finish from Assignon’s cross, followed by a beautiful goal from substitute Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
