Victor Boniface, a forward for Nigeria, is a candidate for August’s Bundesliga Player of the Month award.
Harry Kane and Alphonse Davies of Bayern Munich, Jonas Wind of Wolfsburg, and Boniface will all be opponents.
Benjamin Henrichs of RB Leipzig and Kevin Behrens of Union Berlin are vying for the prize.
In two outings for Leverkusen in August, the 22-year-old scored two goals and gave one assist.
The striker is also vying for the title of Bundesliga Rookie of the Month.
The other nominees for that prize are RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and custodian Noah Atubolu, who was born in Nigeria.
In his first three league outings with Die Werkself, Boniface has tallied four goals and one assist.
He joined Xabi Alonso’s team this summer from Union St. Gilloise of the Belgian Pro League.
