Arsenal FC winger Bukayo Saka claims he chose England over Nigeria due to the Three Lions’ improvement under Gareth Southgate.
Southgate picked the 19-year-old for England’s upcoming games against Wales, Belgium, and Denmark. This was the young player’s first time being picked.
The Arsenal player, who also played for Nigeria at the international level, said that the bright future of England made him decide to root for them.
According to Metro UK, Saka stated, “I feel like I’m really, really proud of my Nigerian origin.”
“Whenever I can, I continue to follow Nigeria’s games, and I send them my best wishes and unwavering support.”
But after observing England’s transformation, I believe they will accomplish great things in the future. I believe that my decision to go to England was sound.
“My mom and dad both have Nigerian roots, but they both grew up and fell in love in Nigeria.”
They arrived, and as England is a foreign country, it wasn’t easy for them to adjust. They are feeling the cold a lot!
“But they adjusted beautifully, and as soon as they had my brother and me, they always placed us first and pushed everything else aside.
I’ll always be grateful to my parents for all they’ve done for me, especially during my football career. My dad constantly encouraged me and drove me to practice on days when it could take two hours to get there.
Saka has only made three appearances for Arsenal this season, but last year, when he was a full-back for the Gunners, he made his team debut and made an impression.
