Building Collapse in Jigawa Claims 3 Lives

Three lives have been claimed by a building collapse in Jigawa. Learn more about the incident and the response from authorities.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Lawan Shiisu issued a statement confirming the incident, as reported by the Jigawa Police Command.

At approximately 10 a.m. in Gujungu town, the collapse transpired leading to an immediate response from the local police force. Upon reaching the site of incident, law enforcers realized that it was a building which was at early stages of construction with two floors and had crumbled down completely.

Nafi’u Mohd, aged 28 and hailing from Rijiyar Zaki in Ungogo LGA of Kano State, as well as Abdurrahman Ibrahim, aged 60 and Usaman Lawan Muhammad, aged 62 – both residents of Danmadai village in Gagarawa LGA of Jigawa State – tragically lost their lives during the event.

Apart from the deaths, four individuals were hurt in the collapse. These persons – Umar Lawan (26), Aminu Mohd (25), Mudansir Nasiru (26) and Usman Mohd (20) – all hailed from Rijiyar Zaki located in Ungogo LGA of Kano State. They were promptly transported to Jahun General Hospital for medical attention.

The families of the deceased have received condolences from CP A.T Abdullahi, Jigawa State’s Commissioner of Police. The wounded are wished a speedy recovery by him as well. Initial investigations indicate that those affected were construction laborers who suffered in the mishap.
