Former President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Daura, his birthplace in Katsina State, shortly after passing the mantle of Nigerian leadership to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday.
The white presidential aircraft transporting the former president, his wife, Aisha Buhari, and their entourage landed at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport at approximately 1:10 p.m.
Buhari was greeted at the airport by the newly sworn-in governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda; his deputy, Faruk Jobe; and the State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Muhammad Sani, as well as the Senator representing Katsina North, Nasiru Daura, the outgoing Attorney General, and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, among other notable figures.
In the meantime, residents of Katsina State have already begun to give gratitude to God Almighty for the former president’s successful completion of his eight-year term and safe return home.
According to Senator Daura, who represents Katsina North, Buhari left the country in the best possible condition and has done his best for the nation; therefore, he deserves a peaceful and joyful retirement.
Badamasi Charanchi, the departing commissioner of education for the state of Katsina, described Buhari as the finest president in Nigeria in terms of infrastructure development and security, and he hoped that the good work would continue.
Abdurrahman Ahmed, AIG Zone 14 Headquarters, Katsina, echoed this sentiment, stating that Buhari has done his utmost to ensure security and that he hopes the incoming administration will be able to build upon his efforts.
