President Muhammadu Buhari won’t stay in office for an additional day, according to Boss Mustapha, the SGF secretary.
Buhari is anticipated to hand over authority to Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, on May 29 once the presidential election in February is finished.
Mustapha, the head of the Presidential Transition Council, said on Tuesday that measures are being taken to make sure that the transition process is not rushed. He was speaking at a news conference in Abuja.
The official transfer of power on May 29 would not be stopped in any manner, the SGF said, according to NAN. “It is a constitutional matter whether all the litigations surrounding the election petitions are addressed or not.”

“President Muhammadu Buhari won’t stay in office one day longer after May 29 to transfer authority to the winner determined by INEC.
“Court proceedings will proceed, and we are making every effort to prevent a premature end to the transition process; the federal government has made a declaration to that effect.”
The transition process is proceeding as planned, and every effort is being made to make sure it is easy. On May 29, there will be a ceremonial, peaceful transfer of power to the next president-elect.
Aides to the president, Garba Shehu, claimed on Friday that Buhari will hand over to Tinubu because he was anxious to get home and enjoy his retirement.
