A 50mw gas-powered energy plant and other projects will be officially opened by President Muhammadu Buhari during his one-day visit to Maiduguri.

Residents from a variety of backgrounds who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) expressed excitement over the project’s promise of a reliable power supply for the capital city of Borno and its surroundings.

“For the people who suffered from power outages caused by vandalism, notably by rebels, for a number of years, it is historic and will always be remembered.

According to some owners of small businesses in need of electricity, the plant would promote the expansion of numerous businesses.

Traders at the destroyed Maiduguri Monday Market praised Buhari for visiting the market to show his sympathies with the people who work there.

“We are pleased with the assistance that is arriving from many sources for market fire victims, and we are confident that Buhari will help us recover after empathising with us.

As we anticipate further support from his administration, we are here here to applaud him for his show of concern, one of them remarked.
