President Muhammadu Buhari declares his confidence in the Bola Tinubu government’s ability to continue what he calls the upward trajectory set under his own term.
Buhari said that the next president will keep giving the Nigerian Navy vital assistance.

He said that he had no doubt that Tinubu will lead the Navy to continue acquiring new equipment, expanding shipbuilding for export, encouraging indigenous manufacturing, stepping up the battle against piracy, and addressing challenges related to crude oil theft.
He referred to the dramatic decline in piracy over the previous seven years, which caused Nigeria to be removed off the International Maritime Bureau’s list of pirate-prone nations in March 2022.
He praised the use of technology in maritime security, which made it easier for navy ships to be deployed using intelligence and increased their efficiency.
The President praised the MT HEROIC IDUN’s thorough prosecution when it was found and detained in August 2022 for trying to carry crude oil without permission off the coast of Bonny.
Buhari also unveiled a number of new additions to the Navy’s fleet at the Fleet Review, including the landing ship transport NNS KADA and a new helicopter, the NN410, made in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
