The guarantee was given by President Buhari to Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, the secretary general of the World Customs Organization, who was visiting Nigeria for a conference on fragile borders.
He emphasised that despite the normal enthusiasm and scheming that surround campaigns, he would make sure that the elections were held in a calm and favourable environment.
The President also emphasised that Nigeria and her neighbours ought to prioritise efficient border control because unstable entrance points only serve to fuel terrorism, economic sabotage, and the illicit flow of weapons.
In the meantime, Dr. Mikuriya, the head of the WCO, has urged the Customs Services to focus on security rather than just generating cash. This is his fourth visit to the nation.
Without border protection, he observed, the country cannot successfully secure its earnings.
