President Buhari will receive the honour from the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum, according to a statement from White House press secretary Femi Adesina.
President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Abuja on Monday to go to Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritius, where he will get the “African Award for Strengthening Peace” on Tuesday. Nouakchott is where Mauritius is located.
The honour recognises the president’s leadership in advancing peace on the continent, according to presidential spokesman Femi Adesina.
Adesina said that the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum will give the prize to President Buhari. The Abu Dhabi Peace Forum is a group of leaders that was started in 2014 to find new ways to support inclusive citizenship, promote lasting peace, and work toward a safer and more sustainable world for everyone.
The presidential aide stated that before accepting the honour, Buhari will take part in the Third Forum of the African Conference for Peace, where he will give an address on significant developments in the African peace process.
Geoffrey Onyeama, the minister of foreign affairs; Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi, the minister of defense; Maj. Gen. Mohammed Monguno, the national security adviser; and Amb. Ahmed Abubakar, the director general of the national intelligence agency, are travelling with the president.

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Tuesday, January 18, 2023, receive “African Award for Strengthening Peace’’ in Nouakchott, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, for his leadership role in promoting peace on the continent, through regular inventions, counsels and conciliatory position.
The award will be presented to President Buhari by the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum, which is an assembly of leaders established in 2014 to pursue new ways to embrace inclusive citizenship, promote lasting peace, and work towards a safer and more sustainable world for everyone.
Before the international recognition for serving Nigeria, and the larger interest of peace in Africa, the President will participate in the Programme of the Third Forum of the African Conference for Peace, where he will deliver a speech on milestones and gains in the African peace process.
President Buhari will depart for Nouakchott on Monday and return Wednesday, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Salihi Magashi, National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Mohammed B. Monguno and Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.
