The previous administration, led by former President Muhammadu Buhari, according to State Minister of Defence Bello Matawalle, did not take the problem of insecurity seriously.

Together with the Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, Matawalle spoke before the Senate Committee on Defence about the Ministry of Defense’s recent acquisition of new attack helicopters to strengthen the defence against national instability.

This occurred as the Minister of Defence informed the committee that the present Service Chiefs had synergies.

Speaking before the Senate Committee on Defence, Mattawlle stated that state, local, and federal governments needed to work together to address the issue of insecurity.

“I know what I have gone through on the issue of insecurity, particularly banditry, which is new to us in the North-West,” he stated, having previously served as governor of Zamfara.

Although Boko Haram is not a new problem in the Northeast or in our system, it was not given the serious attention it needed due to events during the previous administration.

“Operations and measures are being initiated against these offenders now. For Nigerians, the federal government, state governments, and local governments must work together on the security issue.

“We require important insecurity-related laws. It is progressively declining, and to bolster the fight against insecurity, we recently acquired two attack helicopters.
