President Tinubu will be traveling to Ghana this Saturday. Get the latest updates on his visit and its expected significance.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, has announced that in his role as Chairman of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, Tinubu will speak at a meeting about regional integration progress throughout Africa. His presentation will focus on the success stories and obstacles faced by West African countries since their previous gathering held last July 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The “2024 Report on the State of the Community” will be presented by both the President and Chairman of ECOWAS. The report emphasizes a range of critical topics, including peace, regional security, governance, economic integration, humanitarian and social development as well as energy, mines and agriculture.
The gathering will be called in accordance with the AU’s 2024 theme: “Educating and Equipping Africa for the Contemporary Age.”

According to the statement, in 2017 it was decided that The Mid-Year Coordination Meeting would become the primary platform for aligning and coordinating efforts between the AU and RECs with respect to implementing a continental integration agenda. As such, this forum replaced previous summits held during June/July.
Tinubu, having been elected as the Chairman of ECOWAS in July 2023, gave his first speech at the AU Fifth Mid-Year Coordination Meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya. During his address he emphasized Africa’s resilience and stressed on the importance of unity among fellow Africans.
The agenda in Accra will comprise of the assessment of AU’s early warning and conflict prevention systems, as well as the enhancement of collaboration among regional economic communities for faster integration.
As per the statement, a resolution will be passed at the conclusion of the gathering.
