Olukayode Ariwoola, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, administered the oath of office to the incoming president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
A few minutes earlier, Kashim Shettima, the vice president-elect, was also administered the oath of office.
After months of arduous electioneering, Nigeria now has a new president who will guide the nation for the next four years.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu is his name.
Tinubu, the 71-year-old former governor of Lagos State, was inaugurated as Nigeria’s president on May 29 at Eagle Square in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, administered the oath of office to Tinubu and his delegate, Kashim Shettima, at precisely 10:28 am and 10:38 am, respectively.
Tinubu’s predecessors, including Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan, attended his inauguration.
Remi, wife of Tinubu; Nana, wife of Shettima; and Aisha, wife of Buhari, were also present at the swearing-in ceremony.
African leaders who witnessed the historic event were the new Prime Minister of Gabon, Billy By-Nze, the President of the Republic of Cote D’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, and the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame. The venue was beautifully decorated with the national colors of green, white, and green.
Akinwumi Adesina, Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Abdullah Rabiu, and Jim Ovia were among the dignitaries present at the venue of the inauguration.
Also present are service commanders, security agency directors, governors, former governors, serving and former ministers, and All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders.
