The President-elect, Bola Tinubu, has been given permission by the Abuja Appeal Court to examine election materials that would be utilised on February 25, 2022, in the general elections.
On Tuesday, the All Progressives Congress’ presidential candidate pleaded with the Court of Appeal in Abuja to order INEC to allow him access to confidential information used in the poll.
In order to prepare his defence against petitions that would seek to invalidate his election, Tinubu stated through his solicitor, Mr. Akintola Makinde, that he would need to examine, scan, and make photocopies of some of the electoral papers.
The Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, are included as respondents in Tinubu’s first ex-parte application, which was submitted on March 6. In contrast, INEC and the Peoples Democratic Party, along with candidate Atiku Abubakar, are listed as respondents in the second application.
The documents would be helpful for us as we formulate our defence and compare it to the data on INEC’s back-end server, according to Makinde.
Later on, more information…
