BREAKING: Tinubu Declares State of Emergency in Rivers, Suspends Fubara for Six Months

President Bola Tinubu declares a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspends Governor Siminalayi Fubara for six months amid the ongoing political crisis.
On Tuesday night, President Bola Tinubu announced a state of emergency in Rivers State.
In a nationwide address, Tinubu made this announcement.
The president expressed being “greatly disturbed by the political crisis” in the state and accused Governor Siminilayi Fubara of demolishing the State House of Assembly building.
Tinubu stated that after assessing the situation, he has chosen to “declare a state of emergency effective March 18.”
This decision was made just hours after Tinubu convened with his service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police at Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
The meeting, which started at approximately 3 p.m., was also attended by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, along with Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, also reached the forecourt of the Presidential Villa.
