In anticipation of the ruling on the appeal of the Kano State governorship election, there is currently intense security surrounding the Supreme Court of Nigeria Complex in the three arms zones of Abuja.

Justices of the supreme court will also render decisions in the next governorship elections in Lagos, Zamfara, Plateau, Ebonyi, Bauchi, and Cross River, according to PlatinumPost.
By 9:00 a.m. on Friday, the court was in session.
Because the incumbent governors were removed by the lower courts, PlatinumPost notes that the judgements in the Kano and Plateau appeals are the most anticipated.
Security personnel from regular and plain-clothed police units have been stationed at the Supreme Court building’s main entrance to prevent unauthorised people and vehicles from entering the facility, according to information obtained during a visit.
Hundreds of supporters of the parties could be seen attempting to enter the premises, despite the fact that only lawyers and parties interested in the dispute were allowed, according to Obasanjo News24.
Additionally, journalists were having trouble navigating the court grounds.
According to Obasanjo News24, the governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, and his political party, the NNPP, filed an appeal against the Court of Appeal’s decision to uphold the Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal’s earlier decision to fire him.
The panel dismissed Yusuf and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to revoke his certificate of return and give it to All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Nasir Yusuf Gawuna for the governorship that would be held on March 18, 2023.
However, Yusuf had gone to the Appeal Court because he was dissatisfied with the Tribunal’s ruling. However, the appellate court concluded that the governor could not have been considered legitimately sponsored for the election because he was not a party member at the time of the election, even if it upheld his dismissal.
Obasanjo News24 also adds that for Plateau, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang’s election was affirmed by the Plateau State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Jos but the appellate court overturned his victory and named Nentawe Goshwe of the APC the winner of the election.
The court determined that the PDP had broken the law when it refused to follow the Plateau State High Court’s directive in Jos to have legitimate state, local, and ward congresses prior to announcing its candidates for the various elective positions.
