BREAKING: Sit-at-Home Enforcers Attack Anambra Communities, Leave Five Feared Dead

Violence erupts in Anambra as sit-at-home enforcers reportedly kill five in a wave of attacks on local communities. 

Tension gripped communities in the Anambra Central Senatorial Zone on Monday morning as gunmen, reportedly enforcing the banned sit-at-home order, caused significant disruption.

learned that the attacks occurring between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. in Abatete, Abagana, and Ukpo resulted in at least five fatalities.

A source informed our correspondent that the majority of those injured were members of the Anambra Vigilante services.

The initial attack reportedly occurred in Abatete town, aiming at vigilante personnel associated with the town’s President-General (PG).

Three security personnel were fatally shot in a barrage of gunfire.

The PG reportedly sustained critical injuries and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital.

In distinct incidents, the gunmen targeted the communities of Abagana and Ukpo.

At the Ukpo roundabout in Dunukofia Local Government Area, it was reported that a member of a Vigilante Group and a motorcycle rider lost their lives.

Residents of communities in Anambra Central have been thrust into a state of panic and fear.

A voice note circulating on social media advised residents of Awka to stay indoors due to the nearby attacked communities’ closeness to Awka, the state capital.

A member of the Abatete community expressed that they are praying for their PG’s recovery, noting that the senseless violence has left them shaken.

A Ukpo community member shared on Facebook: “It was chaotic. The attackers suddenly appeared, firing randomly while shouting ‘No Biafra, no freedom.’ We’re still attempting to comprehend the event.”

When contacted, the state’s police spokesperson, SP, stated: “The details are still unclear at this time. However, our officers are currently on the scene. I will provide you with accurate information as soon as possible.”
