As the incoming Chief Justice of Nigeria, or CJN, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun is presently being vetted by the Senate.
states that Olukayode Ariwoola’s retirement occurred in August, and Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has been acting as CJN since then.
Judges from the several courts and Kekere-Ekun’s family members were present when the screening on Wednesday got underway.
This comes just a day after President Bola Tinubu requested in a letter to the Senate that the House screen and certify her as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
“I have the honour to forward the nomination of Honourable Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun CON for confirmation as CJN,” Tinubu wrote in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
“Although I sincerely hope the Senate will give this request prompt consideration and confirmation, please accept my sincere regards and highest consideration, distinguished senate president.”
