BREAKING: Senate has issued 24-hour ultimatum to Police, demanding presence of CAC boss

The Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, has been ordered by the Senate to appear before the Senate Committee on Finance within twenty-four hours by the Inspector General of Police.

During Wednesday’s budget defence session, Senator Sani Musa, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, invoked section 89, subsection 2, to order the RG’s appearance due to disparities found in the revenue collection and expenditure by the Corporate Affairs Commission.

The committee has previously ruled the commission deficient during the MTEF/FP defence, but Senator Musa claims that the RG has rejected the committee’s summons for a third time, which he views as a disrespectful gesture towards the committee.

He said, ‘We requested you to go and clear up and report back, but you never did. You have your book keepers; you have your records.

It was unanimously decided by the committee that the Inspector General of Police should be required to appear before the finance committee on Thursday.
