BREAKING: Senate Dismisses Senator Natasha’s Sexual Harassment Petition Against Akpabio

The Nigerian Senate has dismissed Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual harassment petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, citing lack of merit. The decision sparks reactions across political circles.

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions has rejected a sexual harassment complaint lodged by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

At a National Assembly probe hearing on Wednesday, Committee Chairman Senator Neda Imasuen announced that the petition was “dead on arrival” due to a violation of Order 40 of the Senate Standing Orders.

Imasuen stated that Akpoti-Uduaghan personally signed the petition rather than having another individual endorse it, making it procedurally invalid.

The Edo lawmaker noted that the issues mentioned in the petition were already before the court, thereby making them sub judice.

Although the committee was scheduled to meet, Akpoti-Uduaghan did not attend the probe panel.

The session, originally set for 2 pm, did not begin until 2:58 pm due to the delay in arrival of both Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate spokesman Yemi Adaramodu, who were awaited by the committee’s chairman.

Although Adaramodu eventually arrived at 2:50 pm, Akpoti-Uduaghan was not present for the hearing.
