The Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Rivers State, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, has refused to accept his redeployment as part of a cabinet reshuffle initiated by the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, amid the ongoing crisis in Rivers.
Adangor conveyed his decision to reject the redeployment and also tendered his resignation from the State Executive Council in a letter addressed to the Secretary to Rivers State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo.
Governor Fubara had instructed through the SSG’s office the transfer of Adangor to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office) and the commissioner for finance, Isaac Kamalu, to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment, with immediate effect.

The governor requested both officials to hand over their responsibilities to the permanent secretaries of their respective ministries.
However, Adangor expressed in his letter of rejection and resignation that he was no longer willing to serve under Fubara’s administration in any capacity due to alleged interference in his role as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
Adangor highlighted that Governor Fubara had recently obstructed his duties by instructing him not to participate in legal proceedings against the Attorney-General’s office and the Rivers Government, which were initiated by individuals supported by the state government.
