Chaos erupts in Okuama, Delta State, as residents reportedly flee their homes following an alleged invasion by armed soldiers, raising concerns about safety and security in the region.

On Monday morning, armed soldiers reportedly initiated an assault on Okuama community situated in Ughelli South LGA of Delta State several weeks after detaining its leaders.

The area was stormed by soldiers with gunboat support and indiscriminate shooting reportedly took place.

Our correspondent was informed of the situation by a community resident who spoke from within their concealed spot in the bushes.

After conducting drone surveys on Sunday, it was disclosed that the army officials gained access to Okuama via Okoloba community.

Our correspondent has obtained a video featuring a local youth community member who is expressing their frustration regarding the attack and appealing to the government for aid.

According to the source, our community has been invaded by soldiers and a group of young individuals who are indiscriminately shooting at anything in their path. The perpetrators arrived on foot after parking their boats at Okoloba, and they have already started destroying the small tents we built.

The resident was anxious and puzzled, exclaiming, “There is chaos all around; locating my child seems impossible. Why are we being subjected to such treatment? It’s unthinkable that soldiers would collaborate with our foes in assaulting us. Our officials were detained several weeks ago and now they have come back to ravage the community.”

Residents are experiencing panic and uncertainty as the cause behind the recent military invasion is still unknown, according to current reports. More details are anticipated with developments in the situation.
