In spite of the government’s appeals, several young people have gathered on the streets of Niger State to demonstrate against Nigeria’s economic difficulties.

According to OBASANJONEWS, on Monday a group of protesters took to the streets while singing songs that opposed the government.

They carried signs bearing messages such as “We’ve Had Enough,” “Halt Policies That Oppose the People’s Interests,” “Our Nation Is Not a Place of Slavery,” “This Suffering Is Unbearable”, and more specifically, calling for the reinstatement of Fuel Subsidies.

Last week, Governor Mohammed Bago attempted to prevent protests in Niger by offering welfare packages to the residents. This was reported by OBASNAJONEWS.

He declared a wage allowance of N20,000 for civil servants in both state and local governments. Additionally, he directed the prompt distribution of 50,000 metric tonnes of assorted grains at discounted rates to alleviate prevailing economic challenges.

More information will be provided at a later time.
