Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the newly sworn-in president of Nigeria, has eliminated petroleum subsidies, arguing that they are no longer sustainable.
In his first address to the Nigerian people, he issued the order at Eagle Square in Abuja.
“There is no provision for petroleum subsidies in the budget I reviewed before assuming office, according to what I was told.
He merely asserted, “The fuel subsidy has ended.”
