President Bola Tinubu has announced the postponement of the Federal Executive Council meeting to a later date, which will be communicated in due course.
This information was conveyed in a statement issued by Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday.
The meeting, originally set for today, has been deferred as a mark of respect for Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on Tuesday night.

The statement indicates, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, has rescheduled the Federal Executive Council meeting to a future date to be announced.
“Initially planned for today, the council meeting was postponed in tribute to Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, who died on Tuesday night.
“General Lagbaja held the position of Chief of Army Staff from June 19, 2023, until his death on November 5, 2024.
Additionally, the President has directed that flags be flown at half-mast across the nation for a period of seven days in honor of the late general.
