BREAKING: President Tinubu Launches CNG Buses Produced in Nigeria
President Tinubu launches Nigerian-produced CNG buses in Abuja, marking a milestone in local manufacturing and sustainable transport.
The inauguration of the initial fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses took place at Abuja’s Presidential Villa, with President Bola Tinubu presiding over the ceremony.
The first set comprises 20 buses, all fabricated by Innoson Motors within the country’s premises. It is a demonstration of Nigeria’s increasing aptitude in producing automobiles.
The government’s plan to ease transportation issues in the Federal Capital Territory and encourage cleaner energy usage includes bringing in CNG buses. This aligns with worldwide moves towards sustainable transport, as CNG is both more affordable and eco-friendly than conventional diesel or petrol fuels.

At the commissioning ceremony, five freshly produced buses were escorted to the Presidential Villa’s forecourt. Despite being amidst a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, President Tinubu took a momentous pause to reveal and introduce these means of transport officially. He expressed high expectations that this venture would not only ease transportation difficulties but also foster Nigeria’s local production and innovation capabilities.
Partnering with Innoson Motors demonstrates the government’s dedication to bolstering local industries and promoting economic advancement.
The anticipated effect of this action is to create opportunities for additional investments in eco-friendly technology and infrastructure, thus opening the path towards a more environmentally sustainable future within the nation.
