The NLC refutes claims of pulling out from the nationwide protest.

The government has been accused by the NLC of declaring war on their organization in light of a recent security forces raid on its headquarters.

Last Thursday, at a press conference held in Abuja, NLC leaders refused to accept the police’s justification for the raid and insisted on an apology as well as the return of confiscated materials and release of incarcerated persons.

In addition, the NLC expressed its disapproval of governmental efforts to meddle in their internal operations. This included a proposed decrease in the period of time for which trade union officials could serve. The organization asserted that such conduct contravenes both labor legislation and global agreements.

The NLC dismissed the police’s explanation for the raid on their headquarters, which was that they were there to arrest an international terrorist suspect. The justification was deemed a cover-up by the NLC due to inconsistencies in the police’s account.

Further information will be provided at a later time…
