After facing controversy upon the announcement, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun ordered an instant suspension to commence enforcing the e-CMR plan.

According to the Police Force, the suspension aimed to provide sufficient time for widespread awareness and education among the public regarding e-CMR’s process, benefits, and efficiency.
