BREAKING: NECO Announces 2024 SSCE Exam Results

NECO has officially released the 2024 SSCE results. Check out the latest updates and find out how students performed in this year’s exams.

NECO has unveiled the outcomes of its June/July 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), documenting a commendable achievement rate of 60.55% among candidates who secured at least five credits in pivotal subjects, comprising Mathematics and English Language.

On Thursday, the Registrar of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi disclosed the outcomes at a media conference held at its headquarters situated in Minna, Niger State.

A noteworthy figure of 1,376,423 examinees have registered for the test according to Prof. Wushishi’s statement. Among them are 706,950 males and 669,473 females who showcase a fairly distributed gender representation across the nation in terms of broad student involvement.

Securing five credits, particularly in English and Mathematics, is crucial for gaining admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Therefore, the release of these results will undoubtedly have a significant impact on students’ academic progression.

The head of NECO provided more details regarding the outcome, revealing that out of 1,367,736 candidates who took the exam, there were 702,112 males and 665.624 females present.

There are 828,284 candidates who have attained five Credits or more in their examinations, which includes English and Mathematics. This figure represents 60.55% of the total number of candidates.

83.90% of candidates, totaling 1,147,597 individuals have five credits or more without regards to English and Mathematics grades.

Wushishi stated that there was a significant decrease in the number of examination malpractices this year as compared to last year.

According to him, the count of candidates engaged in different kinds of misconducts reduced by 30.1% from 12,030 in 2023 to 8,437 in 2024 equating to a decline.

However, the registrar disclosed that 40 schools were discovered to have engaged in widespread cheating during the examination.

In the course of administering the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), it was discovered that a total of 40 schools from 17 states engaged in mass cheating. These schools will be summoned to appear before the Council for deliberation and subsequently face suitable penalties. Furthermore, in Ekiti state, one school was implicated for conducting mass cheating across two core subjects and one science subject, leading to their proposed de-recognition by relevant authorities.

In 12 states, a total of 21 supervisors were suggested for being blacklisted because they engaged in poor supervision, aided and abetted wrongdoing, absconded from their duties, extorted others or exhibited drunkenness and negligence.

He advised the candidates who took the examination to check their results on NECO’s website.

“I hereby formally declare that the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal results are now available to the public,” said Wushishi. “Candidates can access their results on NECO’s website at www.neco.gov.ng by using their examination registration number.”
