United Nigeria Airlines’ foreign lease aircraft have all been halted by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) following the airline operator’s Sunday flight from Lagos to Abuja being rerouted to Asaba.
According to OBASANJONEWS24, when a United Airlines aircraft landed at Asaba International Airport on Sunday instead of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), passengers voiced concerns.
As a result, there was a report that said United Nigeria Airlines has suspended all of its wet lease aircraft.
The development was confirmed by Benedict Adeyileka, a former Director General of the Agency, who spoke exclusively with OBASANJONEWS24 on Monday.
He claimed that United Airlines could be suspended while an investigation is conducted by the current NCAA DG, Captain Musa Nuhu.
He denounced United Airlines’s move, calling it incompetent and requiring a careful examination.
“It was now confirmed that their AOC’s sub-Part G is suspended. This indicates that every aircraft they have registered overseas is on subpart G.
“The captain should have announced that the plane is landing at Asaba for whatever reason if you take the aircraft from Lagos to Abuja, but that was not the case.
“The NCAA director has the authority to halt that activity while the matter is being investigated.”
