As the Lagos Governorship Election Petition Tribunal prepares to rule on the petition filed by the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Azeez Olajideca.k.a. Jandor, against his election and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat has arrived at the Rosaline Omotoso Court house, Ikeja.
Around 9.20 in the morning, Hamzat and a few assistants arrived at the tribunal.
He sat behind the bench reserved for solicitors in the court with a close ally.
Around the court, where members of the panel will render judgement, security has been stepped up.
Justices Arum Igyen Ashom, Mikhail Abdullahi, and I.P. Braimoh are members of the tribunal.
To maintain security, a sizable group of police officers in battle gear were visible at the roundabout close to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), in Ikeja, as early as 7 am.
Around the courthouse where the verdict is to be given, a bomb disposal vehicle and extra police officers were also stationed.
All visitors were checked by the Ikeja High Court’s security team and police.
They restricted access to the court for political supporters.
