The nationwide strike, set to commence on Monday, June 3rd, 2024, has been declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) due to the tripartite committee’s failure to reach an agreement on a new minimum wage.
The announcement was made by TUC President Festus Osifo during a joint press conference with NLC leadership in Abuja on Friday.
The decision was made after the expiration of a previous request to the Federal Government to finalize all negotiations for a new minimum wage by the end of May.
Despite rejecting two offers from the Federal Government, with the latest being N60,000, the organized labour is determined to proceed with the strike. Stay tuned for more updates.
