The Kaduna State House of Assembly has taken a significant step in investigating the controversial foreign and domestic loans and grants obtained by the previous administration led by Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
During Tuesday’s plenary, the Assembly established a committee to carry out this probe, with Speaker Yusuf Liman Dahiru presiding over the session.
The committee has been assigned the crucial task of conducting a thorough fact-finding mission into the financial transactions, loans, grants, and project implementations that occurred between 2015 and 2023.

In order to gather comprehensive information, the probe panel has been instructed to summon not only El-Rufai but also other prominent figures, including the former Speakers of the 8th and 9th Assembly, as well as former commissioners of Finance and ex-commissioners of Budget and Planning.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has expressed his concern over the substantial debt burden left by the previous administration, which he believes is hindering the progress of his own government.
