The Rivers State Assembly has issued a misconduct notice against Governor Fubara and his deputy, escalating impeachment tensions in the state.

The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued a notice accusing Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, of alleged misconduct.

Channels Television reported that the lawmakers expressed that their actions are in accordance with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.

Although the specifics of the allegations were not immediately revealed, this action indicates rising political tensions between the state’s executive and legislative branches.

Pursuant to Section 188 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and all relevant laws, we, the undersigned members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, hereby submit a Notice alleging Gross Misconduct by the Deputy Governor in executing her official duties.

Despite the assembly previously denying any plans to impeach Fubara, there have been rumors circulating about schemes to remove the governor.
