Breaking: Gunmen Kidnap SUV Occupants in Anambra
Breaking news from Anambra: gunmen have kidnapped the occupants of an SUV. Find out what we know so far.
On Saturday afternoon, gunmen abducted at least two unnamed occupants of a sport utility vehicle, or SUV.
According to sources, the event took place at the back gate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in the Ifite neighbourhood of Awka.
This is happening at the same time as citizens of Awka, the capital city of Anambra State, have bemoaned the town’s growing level of insecurity.
Three accused cult members were slain on Sunday of last week, and on Monday it was claimed that another person had also died.

The incident on Saturday was captured on camera, and it showed hooded gunmen telling the passengers to get out of the car and get into their black Sienna.
According to a witness in the vicinity of the incident, one of the men stole the victims’ car and the others shot into the air as they fled with the victims.
Awka resident Lawrence Ibemesi stated: “We no longer know what is going on in Awka. People in charge of security need to wake up because we can no longer justify these occasional kidnappings and killings.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, told Obasanjonews.com that they were “studying the video and also liaising with anyone who is an eyewitness to go after the kidnappers.” Also, we have warned our strategic teams to be vigilant at important flashpoints.
Ikenga maintained that the command was unaware of any recent cult killings in the state capital when asked about what steps it is doing in response to the rising levels of insecurity and recent killings connected to cults. He was more or less insistent that this reporter bring evidence to him.
