BREAKING: Gov. Bala Mohammed wins re-election
The governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has been proclaimed the victor of the March 18, 2023, governorship election by the Independent National Election Commission, or INEC.
Professor Abdulaziz Sabo Mohammed, the Bauchi State Returning Officer for INEC, announced the results on Monday. He said that the People’s Democratic Party, or PDP, received 525,280 votes to win the hotly contested election.
The Vice Chancellor of Federal University Dutse (FUD), Professor Mohammed, revealed that Air Marshal Saddique Baba Abubakar (retd) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the PDP’s closest challenger, received 432,272 votes to finish in second place.

The difference in votes between PDP and APC is 93003.
Senator Haliru Jika, a candidate for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), finished third with a dismal 60,496 vote total.
In 15 of the state’s 20 local government units, the incumbent governor won handily.
According to INEC’s findings, Mohammed prevailed in Alkaleri, Bogoro, Dass, Bauchi, Kirfi, Jamaare, Warji, Itas Gadau, Dambam, Ganjuwa, Shira, Ningi, Toro, Tafawa Balewa, and Zaki.
His main rival, All Progressives Congress (APC) Air Marshal Saddique Abubakar (retd), won five local government districts, including Giade, Darazo, Misau, Katagum, and Gamawa.
